Soft Pastel drawing of a nude (WiP) update

Monday, December 21st, 2009

updated drawing Sitting NudeContinued with this pastel today.
Did some work on the face.
I signed it also.
This being my first soft pastel, I can say I’m satisfied with this drawing.
Her eyes being the weak point.
Maybe I tried to go into to much detail with not enough space to do it:)
Those soft pastels are quite big in comparison to the thing you are drawing. 8mm is the diameter of the pastel, the nearest eye is only 3 in height.
I will correct the eyes as soon as I have a solution for this, but for now this is as far as I can go:)

I forgot to state the size of the drawing, it is about 20×27 centimeter(8x11inches)

Comments and solutions(especially on the eyes) are welcome

Also had a camera looking over my shoulder to record the process of making this drawing.

crucified update

Monday, December 14th, 2009

Added some new layers on the rocky plateau, the desert valley and the sky.
Didn’t have enough daylight to add a new layer to the background hills.
Maybe tomorrow:)

It’s starting to look how I want it to be:)

Comments are allways welcome.

crucified 2nd version

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Made a second version of the crucifixion in last post.
I liked the underpainting so much that I wanted to keep it:)

But I also wanted to make an oilpainting out of it.
So I’m going to make another version.
Underpainting of the figure and the nearby ground was done with Gouache.
The rest is the rough underpainting in oils.
I’m going to work on it again when it’s dry in 14 days:)
First version was 30×40 cm, second version is a bit bigger 50 x 60 cm.
Well here’s a progress picture of the painting:
