update 2nd version crucifixion

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Worked on this painting today. Warm enough to sit outside with to work with the smelly oilpaints.
Added new layers to the rocky forground the standing beam of the cross and the desert in the background.

Added a painting to the site

There is nothing more to add to this version so I think it is ready.
Signed this gouache painting yesterday and posted it to the main site:

Tested Golden Open acrylics

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Bought 2 tubes of Golden Open acrylics last tuesday to try them out.

Got Titanium White and Burnt Umber for testing.
Did some experimenting with it today
And yes that paint is much longer  workable then the normal acrylics.

Used an old plastic cd case as a pallette instead of my  home made wet pallette I normally use for acrylics
After 2 hours of experimenting without wetting the acrylic none of the paint had dried out yet.

The left over could be rinsed of with water without any remains sticking to the plastic.
The experiments themselves went quite well, much more time to work the paint.

I’m quite satisfied about these paints. I’m considering buying more of them.

With the 2 colors I have now, I can make decent underpainting.
Guess I will buy at least 6 more tubes 2 reds, 2 yellows and 2 blues
